End User Services: New team – Universal Services

Published: Posted on

Universal Services was formed in April 2017 as a new team within End User Services (EUS), headed up by Mark Smith.

The team has been formed from a mixture of existing staff and new posts and includes the Software Sales and Student Services (Cluster) teams.

What does Universal Services do?

The team is focused on University wide services and has inherited approximately 30 existing services from across End User Services (EUS). Many of the services have ongoing projects attached, to upgrade the technology and ensure new features are utilised.

Upcoming projects

Some of the projects happening in 2017 include upgrades for McAfee, SCCM, Remote Desktop Services and Citrix. The team will also be decommissioning old services such as GOOD and Print Monitor that are due to be phased out over the coming months.

In the immediate future, the team will have a high profile deployment of some Office 365 services for the Collaborative Teaching Laboratory, the previously mentioned projects and a few new projects to maximise the value of existing services.
