Doing something you enjoy can improve your mood and there is evidence that helping others makes you feel good. Feel good choirs are increasing in numbers and volunteering is at its highest level for many years, but going for a walk alone, in a group or with friends and family is recognised as having a positive effect on mind and body.

We can all struggle with motivation, some people find it useful to have a buddy to work alongside, and they might join one of the many groups, face to face or on social media. In addition there are a number of challenges that can help with motivation, Dry January abstaining from alcohol, Veganuary, eating a vegan diet for a month, RED January doing something active to raise money for Mind but if you have missed the start of theses and feel it’s too late, don’t despair there is always Fitness February for Cancer Research.
