In this exciting new video series, researchers from the College of Social Sciences sit down over a cuppa and tackle some of the big issues which impact today’s society.

If you pay attention to the headlines, you are likely to conclude that life doesn’t seem so great. In the last few years, we have seen continuous Worldwide conflict, our oceans engulfed with plastic, an increase in the use of food banks and Facebook stealing our data.

However, with rates of war decreasing since 1945 and the rates of disease and extreme poverty in decline, we could argue that life is better today than in the past.

In this first episode, Professor Scott Lucas and PhD student Amelia Morris discuss whether all things considered, is the world really such a bad place?
