The Institute of Metabolism & Systems Research (IMSR) is pleased to invite you to an upcoming panel discussion and audience Q&A to mark Black History Month 2020, organized by IMSR’s Equality, Diversity & Inclusion leads.

IMSR is a diverse and multinational research institute that carries out research in:

  • Endocrinology
  • Metabolism
  • Maternal & Reproductive Health
  • Quantitative Biomedicine & Systems Modelling

The aims of the event are to:

  • Highlight the contributions of the Black scientists to our research themes (both at Birmingham and beyond) through brief bios from each of our panellists on their career paths to date. The panellists represent scientists at different career stages from postgrad through to professor.
  • Start a discussion with our audience about the challenges of being a Black scientist and possible ways to tackle some of the issues raised.
The event is open to all University of Birmingham staff and students, no matter which Institute or School you are based in.
