At any one time, there may be several MSS research projects that are actively recruiting people to take part in their studies. Sometimes the projects are looking for specific groups of people, for example, people with diabetes or pregnant women, whereas at other times we are recruiting almost anyone who may be interested in taking part. This varies on a case by case basis depending on the nature of the project.

As well as the MSS many other parts of the University run clinical trials and you can find out more about those here: https://www.birmingham.ac.uk/research/bctu/our-research/womens-health.aspx

For each project there should be a listed person to contact. If you are interested in being a research participant, get in touch with the study contact associated with the project of interest. They will be able to tell you more about the project, whether you are eligible to take part and what compensation may be available, if any.

Below we list some of the MSS projects that are currently recruiting study participants. Not all studies are clinical trials, some studies may be observational or qualitatative research studies for example. Ask the study contact if you are unsure.

MSS Participation Opportunities:

DAISy-PCOS

The DAISy-PCOS study is recruiting women with diagnosed or suspected polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) to take part in research investigating metabolic health. The study hopes to identify potential biomarkers to better predict in future which women are more at risk of developing other metabolic diseases, such as diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. Recruitment is open in Birmingham, as well as several other sites across the UK. For more details please visit this page, or get in touch with daisy-pcos@contacts.bham.ac.uk if you have further questions.

If you are an MSS researcher who would like to advertise your study here, please contact Caroline Gillett. Send a short paragraph describing the project, recruitment period, geographic zone (where relevant), eligibility requirements and contact details. Sorry, but we will not advertise research projects that are not directly affiliated with MSS and/or other areas of University of Birmingham.
