Senior Research Software Engineer and Manager

We are looking for a permanent Senior RSE and Manager to join our Research Software Group (RSG), who will spend around 75% of their time on technical work, and 25% line managing a small group of 4 or 5 other RSEs in collaboration with the RSG Leader. In addition to having access to relevant managerial training courses the RSG Leader will guide and advise the RSE in the line management aspects of this role.

As an RSE you will be working with researchers, providing the knowledge and skills to develop, improve, maintain and support high quality research software that fulfils the requirements of research projects. The work will be varied and challenging, supporting a broad spectrum of research from Digital Humanities to Cancer Research.

You will be encouraged and supported in developing your skills, through formal training and mentoring by highly skilled colleagues within this group.

Senior Research Software Engineer (5 posts)

Our team is continuously growing, and we are excited to announce that we are recruiting for five, permanent Senior RSEs and to join our Research Software Group (RSG). As an RSE you will provide a technical software development and support service to academics from a wide range of disciplines. And as a senior member of the team, you will help shape Birmingham’s delivery of research software services.
