Events – presenting work / speaking engagements

• A number of City-REDI staff attended a workshop with Leiden University on 19th April to discuss research.  Simon Collinson gave an overview of our work, Chloe Billing and Annum Rafique presented on “The role of government-funded innovation accelerators in improving local firm performance and local economic growth” and Juliane Schwarz presented on “Universities Incubation Research: Supporting Innovation”.

Media engagements

• City-REDI featured in an article in the Local Government Chronicle called “James Yarker: Using theatre to explain council budgets”.
• Hannes Read wrote an article for The Evaluator (the UK Evaluation Society magazine) called “Confessions of an Early Career Evaluator of the Year (Aged 27 and three quarters)”.

Reports / publications released

• Charlotte Hoole, Simon Collinson and Jack Newman have just had a paper published – England’s Catch-22: Institutional Limitations to Achieving Balanced Growth through Devolution in Contemporary Social Science.

Look ahead to the coming months…

• Simon Collinson will be presenting at a Westminster Business Forum event on Friday 19^th May at an event called “Next steps for investment zones”.
