I’ve spent the last 10 years working at Linking London, a partnership organisation of Colleges and Higher Education Institutions in London working in collaboration to maximise its contribution to targeted widening participation, student engagement and success, social mobility and in pursuit of improvements in social justice through education. I joined Linking London as the Development Fund Coordinator and Researcher in March 2007, looking after a fund of £750,000 that was allocated to our partners to undertake innovative and collaborative projects to improve the progression of vocational learners in London. In 2011, I became the Office Manager, a wide role encompassing all aspects of Linking London’s business, and helped to grow the partnership to 41 members.
Previously I worked for Unltd, a charity that provides support for social entrepreneurs. I hold an MA in African History from SOAS, University of London and BA (Hons) History from Brunel University.
I’ll be providing maternity cover for Sarah Jeffery for the next 9 months and in that time I’m looking forward to finding out more about the fascinating research work of City-REDI, which aims to better understand cities and their wider regions for better informing and influencing city-regional economic policy. The team have all been really friendly and made me feel right at home.
In my spare time I’m a football obsessive, and as it gets ever more painful to recover from each game, I find myself drawn to coaching. I completed my FA Level 1 Coaching Badge last year and I’m looking to throw myself into youth coaching in the near future. I enjoy playing the drums and all things musical, as well as travelling. Although these days that mainly means getting the train from Shrewsbury to the University of Birmingham to get to City REDI.
