We are excited to announce that we will celebrate the successful conclusion of the CLiC Dickens project with a CLiC Dickens Day on 1 December. A half-day of talks and workshop activities will be followed by an evening programme consisting of a drinks reception and a dramatic reading.
The workshop activities will illustrate exercises that can be used in the English classroom. We will also showcase the new CLiC corpora that include more A-Level and GCSE texts as well as a children’s literature corpus. Participants of the CLiC Dickens Day will receive a free copy of the CLiC Activity Book. The CLiC Dickens Day is free, but it is essential that you register via Eventbrite, as places are limited. We will post the programme for the afternoon soon on the event website, so do look out for that.
Our CLiC Dickens Day will conclude with a drinks reception followed by a dramatic reading of the Sikes and Nancy scene from Oliver Twist. The reading will be performed by actor Simon Vaughan and introduced by Dr Caroline Radcliffe from the University of Birmingham Department of Drama and Theatre Arts. Please note that you have to register for the evening separately (also via Eventbrite).
We look forward to seeing you at our CLiC Dickens Day in December!
